Police Care UK traces its roots back to 1926 following the merger of the charities Police Dependants' Trust and the National Police Fund. Our mission is to reduce the impact of harm on police and their families across the UK.
The Charity is currently undergoing a period of growth and development and has transformed from a traditional benevolent organisation to a leader in the blue light sector. This exciting phase is allowing us to expand both our services and our reach. With our office based in Woking, Surrey, we operate throughout the UK to deliver groundbreaking research, innovation, and evidence-based action that supports the police community in coping with the impact of policing. Our work has included targeted projects within police forces aimed at improving wellbeing as well as providing emotional and financial support to serving and veteran officers, staff, and their families.
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Psychological Service Lead to play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality, effective psychological care within Police Care UK. This will require a blend of clinical expertise, strategic vision, and agile leadership. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and leading the psychological support services that cater specifically for the needs of our community, ensuring these services are both effective and sensitive to the challenges faced by police officers and staff.
Priority Responsibilities:
* Oversee the delivery of clinical therapeutic services both within NEST and third party contracted services
* Ensure delivery of therapeutic serve KPIs
* Lead the development of a digital preventative product in liaison with UCL
* Lead the participation in research to determine the efficacy of intensive ITS vs weekly ITS
* Support the robust evaluation of the NEST programme
* Liaise with the clinical service team to ensure smooth and safe processes
* Provide activity and performance reports to the Director of Clinical and Beneficiary services
* Support clinical governance processes
* Ensure actions are delivered in line with agreed timescales / action plans
Qualifications & Training:
* Hold a professional qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and be accredited with the BABCP.
* Hold a core profession as a Registered Nurse Mental Health, Occupational Therapist of Clinical Psychologist.
* Appropriately trained and experienced in EMDR and at least working towards EMDR accreditation.
* Can demonstrate 4 years' experience of working as a CBT and EMDR therapist.
* Evidence of current continuing professional development and clinical supervision.
* Comprehensive knowledge and experience of working with trauma models and NICE guidelines for all common mental health presentations.
* Proven experience in clinical or beneficiary service delivery/ management, preferably within a healthcare or support serviced environment.
Experience:
* A minimum of 4 years' experience of working therapeutically with police and/or other emergency service or military personnel.
* Experience of undertaking clinical needs assessment and online telephone and e- therapeutic treatment.
* Experience of providing effective, time limited interventions.
* Experienced in undertaking trauma psychometrics.
* Experience and knowledge of both psychological and pharmacological treatment guidelines.
* A comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and its application within a clinical or beneficiary service.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Knowledge and experience delivering trauma focused therapies.
* Knowledge of emergency services mental health challenges and relevant literature.
* Awareness of wider challenges experienced by police officers today.
* Clear understanding of and commitment to the Police Care UK vision and values.
* Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively to a wide range of people with varying needs.
* Able to influence and negotiate.
* Ability to analyse and interpret reports and clinical data.
* Report and business case writing skills.
* Research and Audit skills. Effective presentation skills using various multimedia tools.
* Excellent IT skills, including strong Microsoft Office skills.
* Strong communication and numerical skills.
* Highly motivated and resourceful with a proactive, flexible, and innovative can-do approach.
* Willingness to undertake any associated training needed to deliver the role.
* Ability to deal with distressing, challenging and often sensitive material.
* Self-awareness and effective wellbeing balance.
* A willingness to attend and deliver psychological therapies at Police Care UK's Intensive Trauma Service.
Hours of work: The basic hours of work are Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00.
