About the Role

Are you an experienced nuclear professional with technical leadership capability looking for a next stage career development? Like us, your overriding priorities are compliance and safety in the workplace, and aspiring to lead by example? If you're looking for an exciting new opportunity to lead in the Governance and Oversight of fleet mechanical engineering risks, this opportunity may be for you!

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering Fleet Lead to join our Design Authority (DA) Fleet Engineering Governance & Oversight (FEGO) team. You will provide the technical leadership and assurance for mechanical engineering systems and risks, promoting technical excellence in safe nuclear power plant operations.

With the overlap of certain risks and Technical Governance between mechanical engineering and structural integrity, an element of the role will be to support the Chief Structural Integrity Engineer, including reviews of risks and technical assurance. The Fleet Lead role operates at Group Head level and reports to the Chief Mechanical Engineer.

Your base location would be flexible to either of our main offices, in Gloucester or Glasgow. Regular visits to each office and travel to the operational sites will be required on business needs basis.

What You'll Be Doing

Your primary role as a Mechanical Engineering Fleet Lead in Design Authority FEGO will include:

* Governance of processes, standards and best practices
* Providing oversight and assurance of mechanical engineering performance across the fleet
* Oversight of investment and lifetime planning
* Support to Chief Structural Integrity Engineer
* Delegating for the Chief Mechanical Engineer as required to ensure consistency across the group

Who you are

To be successful for this role, you will be qualified to HNC (or Level 4 equivalent) as a minimum and a relevant degree in a technical or engineering field (or acceptable equivalent) will be an advantage. You will also have achieved or be working towards chartered membership of the appropriate professional body.

You’ll have a good working knowledge of nuclear power station design and operation within a mechanical engineering context. In addition, an understanding of regulatory processes and practices, including the Site License and Technical Governance and an understanding of and experience of using standards for nuclear safety and statutory compliance will be a distinct advantage.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

We are offering a starting salary of between £83,802 and £115,263, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we're committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

Applications for this role close on Monday 1st June.

Success is Personal. It's your journey, powered by us. Join us and drive the transitiontowards An ElectricBritain.
