The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is part of the multidisciplinary team delivering and recording a range of observations. The HCA assists in ensuring the effective running of the department. You will be accountable for your own practice while supporting the registered nurse by caring for patients and delivering high standards of care.


Responsibilities

* Deliver and record a range of observations as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Assist in ensuring the effective running of the department
* Support the registered nurse by caring for patients and delivering high standards of care
* Work in a team with Nursing and Medical Staff and other Healthcare, Allied Health professionals and support staff
* Report all incidents/accidents involving patients and staff to the RN and assist in any enquiries, completing required incident report/Datix
* Answer telephone enquiries pleasantly, in accordance with the Trust's telephone answering technique and take the appropriate action
* Participate in the use of IT within the department
* Record clinical outcomes and book appointments
* Maintain confidentiality at all times in and out of the hospital environment
* Demonstrate an awareness of different cultural, ethnic and religious needs
* Act in ways which support equality and value diversity


Qualifications

* Previous NHS or NHS primary care experience with a Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation
* Internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute hospital setting within recent years with evidence of your degree verified by an ENIC report
* Skills in using both verbal and non-verbal communication are essential, expected to provide clear and effective information and communication, both verbally and in writing, promptly referring enquiries to correct person
* Eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years' experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.
