OCU are looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Manager to manage teams across the South East, working from our Greenwich and Erith Office.
The Grounds Maintenance Manager will be responsible for delivering a large vegetation management programme and handling reactive requests. They will collaborate on relevant policy development and develop a high-quality, effective service.
This is a new work stream, providing the successful candidate with input on how this programme is run.
You will oversee a large volume of small sites in a regulated environment, maintaining the highest standards in Health and Safety.
We will need you to:
* Oversee grass cutting, weed removal, shrub and hedge cutting, tree trimming, and general gardening tasks, as well as baiting, tree surgery, sharps collection, and fly tip management.
* Manage staff engagement and maintain good working relationships with Stakeholders, Suppliers, Clients, and relevant regulatory bodies.
* Plan and agree on an annual delivery programme with the client.
* Develop a training and development programme for team members and ensure supply chain competency.
* Undertake regular site visits to carry out safety audits and uphold quality standards.
* Ensure all tools and equipment are compliant and calibrated.
* Attend and contribute to client environmental and safety forums.
To be successful you will need :
* Experience managing Grounds Maintenance Operatives, Tree Surgeons, and Subcontractors, ideally in safety-critical environments.
* Understanding of the specific requirements of high-volume programmes, ideally with previous management experience.
* Knowledge of the compliant use of herbicides and rodenticides.
* Experience managing noxious weeds, especially Japanese Knotweed, and willingness to undertake relevant qualifications if not already held.
* Competency in using work management software.
* Knowledge of working in SSSIs, environmentally classified areas, and with protected species.
* Full UK Drivers Licence is required.
* NEBOSH Certificate is desirable but not essential.
