Overview
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will support the pharmacist in delivering efficient, safe, and patient‑focused dispensing services. Your role is vital in ensuring accurate medication supply, excellent customer service, and smooth pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dispensing & Prescription Handling
Accurately assemble and label prescribed medications under pharmacist supervision. Process NHS/private prescriptions using pharmacy software. Manage stock: order, receive, and store medicines.
2. Customer Service
Assist patients with prescription queries, OTC product recommendations, and signposting to the pharmacist when needed. Handle payments, manage collection/delivery logs, and resolve minor complaints.
3. Administrative Duties
Maintain patient records (confidentiality/GDPR compliant). Support repeat prescription systems and NHS services such as flu vaccinations, NMS, blood pressure checks and Pharmacy First.
4. Compliance & Safety
Follow SOPs, legal requirements (GPhC standards), and infection control measures. Report dispensing errors/near misses promptly.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy. Qualified Pharmacy Dispenser.
Experience
Previous pharmacy/healthcare retail experience is mandatory.
Desirable
* Experience with NHS prescription workflows
* Knowledge of common medical conditions/OTC products
Working Conditions
Physical
Standing for long periods, handling stock.
Team
Works alongside pharmacists, technicians, and counter staff.
