About the Role
Game Seven is seeking a Freelance Creative Director with a conceptual art direction background to lead creative across global sports partnerships. You will define big ideas, set visual direction, and guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through execution.
This role combines creative leadership with hands-on craft to support clients activating in the leading global sports leagues. You will originate campaign platforms, develop visual systems and proof-of-concept work, and partner with strategy, motion, production, and client leadership to bring sports-led stories to life.
You are a self-starter who operates with autonomy and initiative — taking ownership without waiting for direction, anticipating what's needed several steps ahead, and driving work forward with clarity and momentum. There is strong potential for this role to evolve into a full-time leadership position as the business continues to grow.
Responsibilities
* Define and lead an integrated creative vision across major sports and sponsorship campaigns from concept through delivery.
* Generate original, platform-level ideas rooted in sport and culture that scale globally.
* Develop presentation-ready visual directions across still, motion, digital and experiential channels.
* Build clear visual systems and campaign toolkits that enable consistent rollout across markets and partners.
* Partner with Strategy to shape compelling narratives and creative territories.
* Collaborate closely with Strategy, Production, and Design to ensure creative intent is preserved through execution.
* Confidently present creative work to senior client stakeholders, steering conversations and articulating ideas with clarity and conviction.
* Provide leadership and mentorship to designers and art directors, raising craft and conceptual standards across disciplines.
* Maintain pace and precision — delivering high-impact creative work under fast-moving timelines without compromising quality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrated experience leading creative vision, owning platform-level ideas, and guiding multidisciplinary teams from concept through execution within a leading creative agency or brand environment.
* Deep conceptual thinking ability with a strong point of view on culture, sport, and brand storytelling.
* Exceptional art direction and graphic design skills with advanced Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating sports, culture, sponsorship or entertainment-led campaigns.
* Experience leading global briefs and navigating senior, direct client relationships.
* Ability to move seamlessly between big-picture platform thinking and hands-on visual development.
* Clear, persuasive communicator — able to inspire internal teams and influence senior stakeholders.
* Highly proactive and self-directed, you are comfortable working through ambiguity, taking full ownership from ideation through delivery.
* Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor and elevate multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to Have
* Experience within F1, motorsport, football (soccer), or global sporting ecosystems.
* Background in global sponsorship strategy and regionally-focused sports partnerships.
* Experience building scalable visual systems across multi-market campaigns.
Minimum Qualifications
* 8+ years within a creative agency or related communications environment.
* Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams across creative, strategy, and production.
* Proven ability to originate and deliver high-level creative platforms for global brands.
* Strong track record of presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
* Experience working across global markets and culturally diverse audiences.
