Residential Child Care Support Worker (Sessional/Casual)
Casual: Shift pattern - ad-hoc cover
Salary: To be confirmed per hour

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all young people we work with.
As a Support Care Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate” about your role. The young people are at the center of everything we do. You will be a role model, a good listener, warm, approachable, and potentially inspire and make a significant impact on a young person’s life, their choices, and who they can become. You should promote, support, and facilitate creating “happy memories” and have fun with them.
We are seeking Care Workers to join our teams in Carlisle or Headsnook on a casual basis. Ideal candidates will have a warm, approachable manner and feel they can significantly impact a young person’s recovery from early life experiences.
Main Duties
Each home has detailed shift planners and handover documents outlining specific daily duties, which vary between term-time and holiday periods. Typical duties include:
* Supporting boys’ daily routines, including getting them up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, school runs, or activities
* Supporting room cleaning, developing life skills and independence, promoting socialization, and supporting bedtime routines
* Attending medical and other appointments
* Supporting activity plans
* Completing day sheets and working on targets with the boys
* Completing handover documents and daily paperwork
* Managing budgeting requirements
* Performing daily room checks and house cleaning tasks
* Shopping for food and essentials, meal prep, and maintaining kitchen hygiene and laundry duties
* Performing specific checks such as COSHH, fire checks, and vehicle checks
* Building relationships with families, noting special dates, and planning family contact
All applicants must have:
* Flexibility in availability, including sleep-in nights and shift work of up to hours with varied start times (e.g., 7:00, 14:00, 22:00)
* An understanding of issues faced by young people in care
* Qualifications such as Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards them
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Willingness to learn and work well in a team
* Ability to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
* Experience with Emotional Behavioral Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous
