As a Learning & Development Officer you will assist the Cluster TA and L&D Manager and the Cluster Human Resources Team in driving all training and development activities within the cluster of five properties. You will maintain positive internal and external relationships with both associates and managers. You'll lead by example as an enthusiastic learner and be a go-to person for all things L&D. Additionally, you will provide a consistently high standard of administration support to the key stakeholders and supports in the achievement of the business goals and strategies of the company.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
• Previous learning and development experience essential
• Previous administrative experience required
• Human Resources experience desired
Skills and Knowledge
• Influential communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
• Strong design, delivery and presentation skills, particularly in guest service and customer service
• Confident Learning Management System user
• Effective coaching skills and understanding of the talent life cycle
• Previous user of Microsoft Office systems such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Excellent typing speed and accuracy of spelling and grammar, layout and content formation essential
• Highly organized, time-conscious and efficient approach to daily, weekly and monthly schedules
• Ability to manage varying needs and prioritizing to ensure best business results
Education or Certification
• High School completion or equivalent required
• Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development student (or similar) certification preferred or a willingness to study
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Learning & Development Officer, your role is key in ensuring all associates are equipped with knowledge and skills to carry out their work activities effectively. You will be taking a strategic approach on training, assessing the needs within the organisation and deliver the trainings required as such. The Learning & Development Officer will provide a comprehensive, confidential overall HR support for the team and associates.
Administering Employee Training Programs
- Leads the creation and delivery of training programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties in the organisation, such as associates, supervisors, and their line managers.
- Promotes and informs employees and managers about all available training programs, such as Core Trainings, Statutory, Mandatory, Compliance, Take Care, Health & Safety etc.
- Ensures that all statutory and health & safety training requirements are met as per company brand standards
Evaluating Training Programs Effectiveness
- Monitors enrolment and attendance to training classes
- Meets regularly with participants and departmental leaders to assess progress
- Oversees the reporting of training completion and proactively communicates accordingly across multiple hotels and departments
- Partners with operational leaders to assess departmental training needs, including supporting in the development of associates during their probationary period such as 30,60 and 90 days reviews
- Proactively communicates across our properties on completion updates and new training opportunities
Developing Training Program Plans
- Ensures all training and development activities (department specific and general property training) are strategically linked to the organization’s mission and vision
- Identifies performance gaps and works with managers to develop and implement appropriate training to improve performance
- Ownership of our Departmental Trainers initiative. This group of associates will be supporting the Talent Development Officer in enhancing their team’s training and new starter onboarding experience
- Makes any necessary adjustments to training methodology and/or re-trains as appropriate
- Aligns current training and development programs to effectively impact key business indicators
- Establishes guidelines so employees understand expectations and parameters
- Develops specific training to improve service performance
- Drives brand values and philosophy in all training and development activities
- Incorporates development as a component of departmental meetings with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ensures that managers are complaint with 30-60-90-day reviews and that annual reviews are up to date
