Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic Psychiatry (Medium security)
An excitingopportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant Psychiatrist on Holcombe ward,a medium secure rehabilitation unit within the Langdon Hospital campus. This isa full-time post based at Langdon Hospital, Dawlish, Devon.
The Forensic Service at Langdon Hospital under Devon Partnership NHSTrust provides an inpatient and consultation liaison service for the 1.5million population of Devon and Cornwall. There are currently 8 substantiveconsultant psychiatrists/nurse consultant within the Forensic Directorate. Youwill be joining a supportive and friendly consultant peer group which meets ona weekly basis. Holcombe ward has an established nursing team including a wardmanager, psychology team, occupational therapist and OT assistants, a Specialtyclinician, a dedicated ward social worker, a higher trainee in ForensicPsychiatry (ST5), pharmacist, sports and activity workers, physiotherapist andGP provision.

Main duties of the job
Holcombe ward is a 15 bed medium secure ward and provides treatment for patients whohave significant mental health treatment needs and have a history of violence.The ward supports individuals who largely been stepped down from the admissionward (Ashcombe). Holcombe ward also admits patients from other prisons, PICUs,LSUs and more rarely direct emergency admissions from custody. The ConsultantPsychiatrist will lead a multi-disciplinary team and will also provide aforensic psychiatric liaison and assessment service for Devon and Cornwallresidents in high secure hospitals, prisons, local psychiatric units andindependent facilities.
Mainduties will include leading and co-coordinating the care of 15 male patients,attending/chairing daily zoning meetings, weekly care review meetings, CPAmeetings, weekly risk review meetings, directorate operational managementmeetings and attending HCR-20 meetings.The post holder will prepare reports and provide oral evidence for Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers hearings. They will liaise with the Ministry of Justice and other agencies such as courts, probation, and MAPPA. Responsibilities also include supervising ward doctors, core and higher trainees during placements on Holcombe Ward. There are opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and quality improvement. The post holder will receive daily support and advice from a friendly peer group, with formal meetings held weekly.

Qualifications
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post.
* Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* CCT/CESR in forensic Psychiatry
Teaching and Supervision
* Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Evidence of additional teaching skills.
* Experience as a lecturer or supervisor.
* Experience in Clinical Supervision.
