Monarch Education is recruiting an experienced and motivated Head of Year to work across a cluster of secondary schools in North Birmingham. This full time role (8am-4pm) starts immediately and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on student well being, behaviour, and academic engagement across multiple school environments. About the Role As Head of Year, you will be a key pastoral leader, ensuring that students within your year group are supported, safe, and able to thrive. Working as part of a dedicated pastoral team, your responsibilities will include: Leading the pastoral care and behaviour management for a designated year group Supporting student behaviour, engagement, and attendance Building strong relationships with students, families, and staff Coordinating interventions and support strategies Managing behaviour concerns and contributing to whole school behaviour policies Leading assemblies, monitoring progress, and supporting academic tracking Responding to safeguarding concerns and liaising with external agencies Ensuring high expectations and a positive school culture within your year group What We're Looking For Ideal candidates will have: Experience in a pastoral or behaviour leadership role (Head of Year, Pastoral Lead, Behaviour Mentor, etc.) Strong leadership and communication skills A calm, confident, and solution focused approach Experience working with secondary aged students A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures The ability to work independently and across multiple settings A passion for helping young people achieve their potential Why Work with Monarch Education?
