Biomedical Assistant – Grantham
Closing date: 04 May 2026.
Location: Grantham & District Hospital, Blood Sciences department.
Responsibilities
* Technical support in the blood science laboratory, including analyser maintenance, basic troubleshooting and simple manual tests under supervision to meet turnaround times.
* Carry out audits, stock checks, stock rotation, reagent preparation and general support to Biomedical Scientists.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours roster; work under pressure and independently after training.
* Use laboratory information management system to record results and monitor quality.
* Maintain compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Good GCSE in Science (Grade C or above)
* Good Science A levels or equivalent (Grade C or above)
* Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System
* Numerate with good IT skills
Occupational experience
* Previous NHS laboratory experience
* Previous work experience in a science‑related role
* Experience working shifts/out of hours
* Previous phlebotomy experience

Salary and benefits
£25,760 to £27,476 per annum pro rata.
