Are you a registered pharmacy technician looking for a new challenge and a chance to expand your knowledge and experience? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic, forward‑thinking dispensary team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician.
This is a fixed‑term post for 12 months covering maternity leave, with opportunities for full and part‑time hours and for technicians practising in community pharmacy who wish to gain hospital experience.
You will undertake a wide range of tasks within the dispensary and take a lead in a specific area.
* Manage and operate the pharmacy dispensary in accordance with departmental policy and Trust priorities.
* Provide day‑to‑day management for the group of technical staff.
* Participate in the recruitment and selection of dispensary and other pharmacy staff, including chairing selection panels.
* Maintain and develop dispensary policies and procedures, ensuring adherence by all staff.
* Be responsible for the management of Controlled Drugs.
* Ensure performance targets are met and monitoring arrangements are implemented and reported.
* Maintain and develop effective communication structures for pharmacy dispensary staff.
* Manage the undertaking of dispensing and checking competencies by pharmacy dispensary staff including pharmacists, pre‑registration trainees, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers.
* Maintain and develop dispensary induction programmes for new members of pharmacy staff.
* Lead the operation of dispensary aspects of clinical trials, liaising with trial nurses and sponsors.
* Actively manage dispensary stock holding, including regular stock takes and reviews.
* Undertake departmental surveys and audits when necessary, act upon results to improve quality of services.
* Ensure all dispensary staff are trained to use the pharmacy automation systems.
* Ensure optimal use of the pharmacy automation system, including management of system faults and liaison with suppliers.
* Ensure all dispensary staff are trained in the use of dispensary aspects of the pharmacy computer system.
* Ensure dispensing errors are reported and reviewed in accordance with Trust policy and implement remedial actions as needed.
* Provide medicine management support to Ashgate Hospice.
