We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Building Engineer based at HMP Lancaster Farms covering North West England. The base salary starts at £30,231.60, with an additional £500 for each of the six skill areas covered.
The standard hours are 39 hours per week between 08:00 and 17:00, with a requirement to work one weekend in four – pay includes a 15% allowance of basic salary – and participation in a call‑out rota.
The role involves travel across the region covering approximately six establishments, with potential visits to other regions and short‑term site assignments as business requirements demand. A work van and fuel card will be provided.
What you will do
* Provide a variety of maintenance and reactive tasks in accordance with competency, ensuring a detail‑oriented and compliance‑focused approach.
* Be an Approved Person (AP) in one or more principles across the regions, receiving training as required.
* Follow Amey/MOJ/HMPPS security protocols, including tool management.
* Perform any other duties commensurate with the role.
* Assist with escorting duties as required.
What you will bring
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
* Relevant NVQ or qualifications within a maintenance discipline.
* Ability to work independently, use initiative and work at height.
* Good all‑round project management knowledge.
* Experience in Fire Door Maintenance, Fire Extinguisher Maintenance and Fire Alarm Core Points.
* Experience in Emergency Lighting.
* Experience in RCD.
* Experience in Water Temperature Testing.
* IT skills.
* Basic Health and Safety knowledge.
* Knowledge of building and system compliance (training can be provided).
* Willingness to qualify for Amey Confined Spaces AP responsibilities.
* Experience of working within a custodial environment is desirable.
