Working hours: Monday to Friday 9:00–17:00, with occasional weekend work possible.
Registered Physical Health Nurses are invited to join Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist inpatient eating disorder service for children and young people aged 12 to 18.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate physical healthcare plans and treatments to maintain patients’ optimal physical well‑being.
* Support staff to ensure routine and ad‑hoc tests (e.g. blood screening for Clozapine/Lithium) are carried out as prescribed and records are updated in Care notes.
* Ensure routine testing for long‑term conditions (asthma, diabetes) is performed as prescribed and documented.
* Lead the development and review of all physical health care plans, ensuring interventions are clear and achieved.
* Support the clinical team on the ward and cover staff when required.
* Ensure all patients have ECGs as prescribed by the consultant and document evidence in Care notes.
* Lead staff education on naso‑gastric tube feeding, ensuring prescriptions from the dietitian are followed and care plans updated accordingly.
* Attend ICR meetings weekly to contribute to the development and review of physical healthcare plans.
* Chair the hospital’s Healthy Living Group, promoting topics such as obesity, smoking cessation and exercise on a monthly basis.
* Act as the named lead for infection control, providing advice, education and support across clinical and non‑clinical areas.
* Conduct clinical audits and support emergency drills.
* Facilitate educational workshops and teaching sessions on best practice in physical healthcare.
* Support immunisation activities (flu vaccine, routine childhood vaccinations) and deliver health promotion to staff.
* Collaborate with families and professionals to develop a positive approach to healthy living.
Qualifications
* Full and valid NMC registration.
* Minimum of 2–3 years post‑registration experience.
* Experience in naso‑gastric feeding and phlebotomy.
* Experience training others.
* Understanding of mental health.
