We operate from two sites: a 26-acre head office and warehouse in Banbury, and a 100,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility in Redditch. Location: Banbury Head Office
Responsibilities
* Own and be responsible for the supplier / sub sector of the supplier portfolio, reporting into the Commercial Team Lead.
* Management and mentorship of Commercial Managers & Junior Commercial Managers within the above supplier/ sub sector.
* Delivery of agreed annual budget target for the total sub sector.
* Delivery of agreed annual budgetary targets for all supplier terms.
* Increase existing business and develop any new opportunities with a strategic and joint business plan approach.
* Improve cash flow by managing and reducing Supplier aged /disputed debt.
* Negotiate with suppliers to deliver the most competitive pricing and profit levels.
* Provide Customers with a tailored range of products and promotions that suits their individual needs using a Category Management approach.
* Recover all costs associated with residuals, overstocks and out of date stock.
* Achieve all deadlines in relation to promo books, sales aids.
* Grow the DCS brand, representing at DCS meetings, events and seminars, building strong relationships with a variety of networks, including customers and suppliers.
* Ensure all activities relating to medicines and medical devices are in accordance with Good Distribution Practice of medicinal products.
What we are looking for in our Senior Commercial Manager
You will have direct commercial experience in the FMCG and/or Health and Beauty sector and are looking to develop your career further. You could have had previous roles in sales, category development, brand, merchandising or even as a buyer to name a few.
Category Management & Commercial Acumen
* Proven track record of delivering sustained category growth across multiple product lines, ideally within FMCG, Health & Beauty, or a comparable fast-paced sector.
* Demonstrated ability to lead category vision development and translate it into actionable commercial strategies that drive market share and profitability.
* Deep expertise in the commercial levers of product, pricing, promotion, and placement, with experience optimizing across both traditional and emerging retail channels.
* End-to-end ownership of category-level P&L, including strategic investment planning, forecasting, and ROI optimization.
* Advanced knowledge of key UK channels including Wholesale, Convenience, E-commerce, Discounter, Retail, and Pharmacy, with experience shaping channel-specific strategies.
* Demonstrated success in adapting commercial models and propositions to suit evolving customer needs and changing market dynamics across multiple channels.
Strategic Planning & Execution
* Experience leading the development and execution of long-term joint business plans with strategic partners and suppliers, aligned to both commercial and brand objectives.
* Proven ability to align commercial initiatives with overarching brand strategy and corporate growth plans, contributing to strategic market positioning.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders up to senior leadership level.
* Skilled in managing complex supplier and customer relationships, with experience representing the business in high-stakes negotiations, external forums, and strategic partnerships.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
* Highly proficient in analysing category, customer, and financial data to derive insights that shape commercial decision-making.
* Experience in resolving commercial risks including disputed debt, cost recovery on obsolete stock, and margin erosion, with a proactive approach to commercial risk management.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen, capable of interpreting performance indicators and managing to commercial KPIs and cash flow targets.
Project & Time Management
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional commercial initiatives with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven track record of managing complex projects across multiple channels with competing priorities, delivering results on time and within budget.
