Finance Manager – Thor Hammer
Location: Shirley, Solihull.
Thor Hammer Company Limited is a privately‑owned manufacturer of hammers and mallets, selling products globally through a network of distributors. The company is profitable and plans for continued growth.
Role Overview
The Finance Manager will lead the finance function in a manufacturing SME, reporting to the Managing Director. The role includes full responsibility for accurate and timely financial reporting, robust financial controls, and commercial insight to support business growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
* Create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
* Produce monthly KPI reports with sales analysis.
* Monitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis, and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
* Manage year‑end processes, prepare annual accounts, and liaise with external accountants.
* Forecast cash flow and manage working capital.
* Oversee credit control, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
* Analyse production costs, margins, and overhead absorption.
* Prepare and pay monthly and weekly payrolls.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified accountant – CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
* Experience leading a finance function or a strong desire to move into a senior finance role.
* Understanding of working in a small company with a broad, strategic and hands‑on remit.
* Experience within a manufacturing company and familiarity with related accounting activities.
* Strong financial systems knowledge and excellent Excel skills.
* Track record of efficiency improvements and implementing new ideas within a finance function.
