Band 4 Governance Specialist Senior Assistant Technical Officer – Pharmacy Governance
Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy member of staff to take the next step in their career and become a Specialist SATO Clinical Governance for Furness General Hospital and provide absence cover for other sites. We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented individual to support medicines governance, patient safety and high‑quality service delivery within the Pharmacy Department. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and a passion for improving medicines management across the Trust. You will work closely with, and report to, the Audit Senior Pharmacy Technician.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete safe and secure medicines management audits.
* Support governance actions and contribute to audit reports.
* Promote effective risk management, ensure incidents are reported in line with Trust policy, and assist with investigations by gathering evidence and completing documentation.
* Manage stock, resolve discrepancies, support IVIG submissions, and maintain robust stock control systems.
* Provide dispensary support when required and may undertake Final Accuracy Checking if accredited.
* Exhibit strong communication skills, excellent organisation, accuracy, and the ability to prioritise and work independently; contribute positively to the wider governance team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Excellent communication and computer skills.
* Completed NVQ Level 2 – Pharmacy Services and BTEC Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
* Experience in pharmacy governance, audits or related roles is desirable.
