Overview
Are you passionate about making, creating and supporting others to learn? We are looking for a practical, adaptable and student focused Technical Specialist to join our Architecture & Built Environment technical team. Based in our specialist workshops and testing labs, you will play a key role in helping students bring their ideas to life, from model making and woodworking to laser cutting, 3D printing and digital fabrication. You will supervise safe workshop practices, deliver training, support exhibitions and testing activities. And keep our facilities running smoothly.
Responsibilities
* Supervise safe workshop practices in our specialist workshops and testing labs.
* Provide hands-on technical support and instruction to students across model making, woodworking, laser cutting, 3D printing and digital fabrication.
* Deliver training, safety briefings and guidance on equipment use.
* Support exhibitions and testing activities and help maintain facilities and equipment.
* Collaborate with academic staff to support learning outcomes and project work.
Qualifications
* Experience in workshop fabrication or educational environment.
* Ability to support and inspire students with hands-on technical processes.
* Understanding of safe working practices and equipment use.
* Strong communication, collaboration and approachable attitude.
* Experience in CAD/CAM, digital fabrication or surveying equipment would be an advantage; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential.
