The Role

An opportunity for a part time (0.5 fte), fixed term (up to an year) role has arisen within our Student Support Coordinator team in the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology. Applications are invited for the successful candidate to join an active and innovative team working to support students through a confidential and non-judgmental service.

The Faculty is home to seven Schools providing specialist and interdisciplinary teaching, research and knowledge transfer across a breadth of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including a number of international partnerships, and spanning a wide range of disciplines including but not limited to Architecture, Engineering and Computing.

You will:

* Act as a first point of contact to provide advice, guidance and support to students on the process of applying for exceptional circumstances and providing follow-up support when the outcome is received.
* Provide advice and guidance to students on relevant systems such as our Virtual Learning Environment system.
* Advise and support students with highly sensitive issues and manage confidential information in accordance with data protection legislation.
* Support collaborative working across the University, in particular with Wellbeing and Student Central to support students' needs.
* Advise students on the University regulations and programme rules.
* Work collaboratively with Student Support Coordinators across the university.
* Participate in relevant Faculty committees and working groups as appropriate including Faculty and Subject Committee meetings.
* Maintain accurate records of student interactions. Prepare ad hoc reports for evaluating the operation of the Student Support Coordinator activities in order to identify trends and student demands.

You should have:

* An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification or substantial relevant work experience in a post with similar, general support/advice duties.
* Demonstrable relevant experience and appropriate skills.
* Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills.
* Demonstrable IT skills with the ability to use software packages appropriate to an office environment.
