Company
City Capital are currently representing a highly respected real estate finance lender who are looking for a well‑organised & proactive Paralegal to join their industry‑leading legal team at an exciting time of growth.
Our client specialises in real‑estate finance loans for short and long‑term purposes across residential, semi‑commercial and commercial property assets. Their core borrowers are experienced property investors and developers.
The legal department plays a key role in the strategic and day‑to‑day success of the lending and funding business. The Paralegal is a critical player in this success supporting the Head of Legal & Senior Lawyers on key projects.
Role and Opportunity
As Paralegal you will work in support of the Head of Legal and the Senior Lawyers to drive forward legal processes and projects. Due to the nature of the business much of this is likely to pertain to real‑estate lending, real‑estate asset management, institutional funding and investment management.
In addition to support to the businesses lending and funding activity you would also expect to broaden these horizons by supporting the General Counsel with broader legal matters that sit outside of the core business.
The role of Paralegal is likely to include (but would not be limited to) activity such as preparation of legal reports, conducting research, compiling and presenting files, accurate record‑keeping and assistance with prioritising work to achieve deadlines and expectations.
You will also be involved in shaping the department as it grows with input and impact into aspects such as policies, documentation and strategy.
* Prepare, review and assist in the execution of real estate finance documentation (including loan agreements, security documents and ancillary contracts)
* Support the legal team in managing conveyancing processes, including reviewing title documentation, property searches and liaising with external solicitors
* Handle land registry applications ensuring all are completed accurately and promptly
* Maintain and update property and loan transaction records ensuring compliance
* Conduct legal research on property company and regulatory matters
* Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate smooth transaction progression
* Assist in drafting and updating standard‑form documentation and internal templates
* Support the preparation of board papers, legal reports and compliance summaries
* Liaise with external counsel and counterparties to track progress on transactions
* Contribute to process improvements and governance initiatives within the legal function
* Ultimately, expect a diverse range of challenges to help you develop and expand your knowledge and impact
Candidate Requirements
For the ideal individual you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in law (or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in a corporate legal environment as Paralegal. Completion of the LPC or SQE is strongly preferred though not essential. You bring a solid understanding of commercial contracts, attention to detail and confidence working across multiple priorities simultaneously.
Equally important will be your soft skills – clear written and verbal communication, strong organisational ability and the confidence to manage sensitive information with professionalism.
* 2 years experience as a Paralegal or similar position
* Familiarity with Land Registry forms and ability to analyse data
* Familiarity with comprehensive title searches and prior ownership of property
* Understanding of indemnity insurances and when to apply them
* Comfortable giving guidance on property law
* Searching expertise: understanding title local authority environment searches
* Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm
On Offer
Our client is ideally looking to pay between £50k‑£55k as a basic salary for the ideal individual, which will be relevant to experience. Higher offers may also be considered for our exceptional track record in the relevant markets.
Salary will be complemented by access to our client’s favourable bonus scheme, allowing you to substantially increase annual earnings based on performance.
Critically, for those ambitious opportunities to propel salary and career standing forward, our client already operates a very strong and proven promote‑from‑within policy that has been integral to date. This is key for this role as the legal team expands and creates opportunities to move into more senior roles (leadership/lawyer) should present.
Due to the high nature of collaboration between the legal lending and funding teams this role would be based on our client’s fantastic Central London offices.
Next Steps
There is a reasonable amount of urgency to fill this position in line with objectives.
Given the nature of the role & opportunity, you do not expect it to be on the market for long.
If this role sounds like one that you are both qualified for and interested in, we look forward to your application as soon as possible.
Once we have reviewed your application we will be in touch with an update.
We look forward to hearing from you.
