Hire Controller – plant hire

We’re currently seeking a proactive and well-organised individual to join a fast-paced hire desk team within a growing plant and tool hire company based in Norwich.
This position plays an important part in the day-to-day running of the business, acting as a central point of contact between customers, drivers, and the workshop. You’ll help ensure operations run efficiently, from handling enquiries through to coordinating equipment and transport.
Key Responsibilities

Respond to incoming hire enquiries and assist customers in selecting suitable equipment
*
Prepare quotations and process hire orders using internal systems
*
Liaise with the workshop to confirm equipment availability
*
Coordinate deliveries and collections alongside the driver team
*
Track active hires and manage off-hire processes in a timely manner
*
Maintain accurate records and system updates
*
Support overall fleet utilisation and operational efficiency
About You
*
Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
*
Able to stay organised and composed in a busy environment
*
Good attention to detail and ability to solve problems effectively
*
Comfortable using basic IT systems (full training provided)
*
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
Previous experience within hire, logistics, or customer service would be beneficial, but is not essential.
