Manage and monitor labour costs, staffing structures and rotas, ensuring they meet requirements of the children`s needs and are in line with allocated labour budgets.
Ensure that the high standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld, and that the standing of the Company is maintained.
Ensure the home is clean, tidy and well maintained, reporting any issues to senior management.
Ensure young people have the opportunity to personalise their bedspace, and have a clean and tidy space of their own
Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children feel that they can complain and that they are listened to.
Ensure that the home functions in such a manner that staff, children understand, recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community.
Meet with all young people individually at a minimum of once per month to have a discussion about wishes, feelings, support and any concerns or issues, ensuring these are minuted with actions that are followed up in a timely manner.
Ensure young people have a regular house meeting in which they can discuss activities, support, menus and raise issues.
Ensure children know who staff are and their roles and responsibilities, this includes visitors and professionals.
Ensure children are aware of how to make a complaint and this is regularly discussed with them.
Ensure staffs are aware of and deliver the support required, to ensure the life chance opportunities of children are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
Ensure children have a weekly planner in place with support and activities diarised.
Ensure weekly reports are populated and sent to social workers with key achievements.
Complete and update the young person's outcome tracker.
Ensure children have access to a range of activities that suit their emotional, social, cultural, physical, intellectual and creative needs.
Risk assessments must be in place for all activities.
Ensure young people have an educational plan in place with updated EHCP if applicable.
Ensure communication is regular between school and the home and concerns are able to be escalated when required.
Ensure young people are clean and have the necessary uniform and equipment to attend provision and that they attend and are on time.

Ensure the home has sufficient and varied information which is accessible to all regarding access to support agencies that will promote the health and wellbeing of children in placement.
Safeguard and protect the health and wellbeing of children.
Ensure all children are registered with health and wellbeing professionals in line with relevant plans and appointments are recorded and feedback obtained.
Ensure young people are included in weekly meal planners and that they are offered choices, and balanced diet

To develop positive behaviour support plans and ensure these are regularly reviewed and updated.
To regularly review and monitor instances of behaviours that present with challenge and review associated strategies.
Develop and coach staff a variety of intervention strategies regarding behaviour management. In order that children can develop coping mechanisms and changes in patterns of behaviour.
Review all incidents and ensure staff and young people receive a debrief.
Review all restrictions of movement, ensuring they are necessary, appropriate and proportionate and ensure plans are adjusted to reflect increases and decreases accordingly in line with risk management.
To develop and regularly update risk management plans, ensuring there are clear step by step guides for staff on how to manage risk.
Review all approached to restorative practice, rewards and consequences in line with the children's home standards.
Ensure you practice within the legal framework for MCA & DOLs where applicable.
Review compliments and complaints in line with company policy.
To have systems and processes in place which all staffs understand and are compliant with Safeguarding and Child Protection under Children`s Regulations.
At all times promote and ensure anti discriminatory practice.
Promote and actively encourage the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
Have oversight of all Notifications of serious incidents to Ofsted ensuring they are completed within timeframe and are reviewed. These should also be sent to the Head of Care & Responsible Individual.
To ensure all children have a missing from home plan in place.
Ensure Health & Safety checks are completed at the home and any risks are removed or escalated to senior management.
To comply with fire prevention measures and ensure drills are undertaken regularly and often in line with the policy and children's guidance.
Ensure staff are familiar with the child's missing from home plan and that they are appropriately followed, missing from home interviews must be conducted and this should be followed up with the placing authorise
Take overall responsibility for all staff, delegating effectively and appropriately.
Ensure all staffs are aware of their responsibilities in relation to adherence of policies, both in the home, the organisation and those set out in Children's Legislation and Regulations.
Ensure all staff adhere to and work within the policies and procedures established in the organisation and the home.
Complete the administration of financial, payroll and staffing related matters in the home within the prescribed time scales.
Work within the code of confidentiality and ensure that records in the home are stored and held in a manner which is compliant with regulations.
Provide staff with sufficient information that ensures they understand the role of a key worker and devise monitoring systems, which will ensure this is delivered to a high standard.
Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.
Directly deliver supervision to identified members of staff, in relation to Supervision and Personal Development Plans (PDP).
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Create and update Reg 45
Support Reg 44 Visits & Complete outstanding actions, ensuring the Head of Care & Responsible individual are cited.
Complete and follow up actions following Ofsted Inspections
The manager should be aware of the homes strengths and weaknesses and have plans in place to support and address these.
Staff should be fully compliant with SAFER recruitment checks, there should be a monthly audit to ensure staff remain compliant.
Workforce development plan should be devised and reviewed on a regular basis to support staff CPD.
The Statement of purpose and children's guides should be implemented and regularly updated with changes required, a copy should be submitted to Ofsted.
Newly recruited staff should fully comply with company induction and ongoing probationary supervision that should be held at the regular intervals as outlined in the policy.
Staff HR issues should be supported by the management and escalated at the earliest opportunity to the Head of Care and Responsible Individual.
Monthly management reports should be completed and sent to the Head of Care & Responsible Individual.
Team Meetings should be regularly held and minuted, these are to be shared with the Head of Care & Responsible Individual.
Ability to occasionally work out of normal office hours and be on call.
Be flexible when needed to provide cover to other homes.
Full clean driving licence
