About the role
Breast Services at LTHT covers the Leeds & Wakefield Breast Screening Service and Breast Imaging. The service operates both mobile and static sites across the city, with the breast assessment unit based at Seacroft Hospital and the symptomatic service at St James's Hospital. The role supports the Principal Radiographer, Team Leaders and Senior Radiographers by facilitating education, training and practice development, ensuring a high standard of education for all registered and unregistered breast radiology staff.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with management to implement evidence‑based, patient‑focused practice, working alongside staff to develop skills and integrate education and practice development, thereby enhancing quality care delivery across the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
* Take a lead role in training within the specialist field.
* Collaborate with education providers to coordinate and deliver clinical training for Specialist Radiographers and Assistant Radiographer Practitioners.
* Formulate and review a comprehensive induction/training programme for staff new to the specialist area.
* Support the development of evidence‑based practice and research activities to enhance patient care.
* Maintain expert knowledge in the specialised field, pursuing continuous professional development in accordance with the Health Professions Council and NHSBSP standards.
* Support management with day‑to‑day organisation and supervision of staff and equipment.
Qualifications
* BSc (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography
* Diploma of the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic)
* State registration (HPC)
* Post‑graduate qualification or equivalent in a specialist area
Experience
* Commitment to complete all training requirements of the post
* Expand core knowledge through Evidence‑Based Practice (EBP)
* Take a leading role in clinical training programmes in the specialist area, acting as a source of highly specialist information for junior staff
* Mandatory training in CPR, fire safety and moving & handling
