About Us
Acting as both the Local Highway and Traffic Authority the County Council's Highways Service is responsible for maintaining the safe and effective use of its highway network. As part of that role the Development Control team examines and responds to planning consultations to ensure highway safety is maintained and sustainable travel supported.
The Role
We have two positions, one in the east of Lancashire and one in the west. We are looking for two highly motivated people with a good understanding or experience of working in the field of development control, highway safety or highway transportation.
The post holders will use their knowledge and skills to assist in providing highway transport advice, guidance and support to local planning authorities, developers and other stakeholders regarding the highway and transport implications of development, identifying issues and potential solutions.
You will be working within a well-established, organised team where you will be supported and allowed to build on your existing knowledge and skills and actively encouraged to realise your full potential.
The role will involve attending meetings and undertaking site visits. Consequently the successful applicants will be required to hold a valid driving licence and will be expected to have a motor vehicle available for use on official journeys.
These two posts are permanent full-time positions (37 hours per week) with one position based at Bamber Bridge (west) and one based at Burnley (east), although flexible working is available for both posts.
The Benefits
We value our staff as individuals and aim to help them achieve their full potential. We offer a work environment that encourages staff engagement, team working and problem solving, and we recognise the importance and benefits of an excellent work life balance. In return for your passion and expertise we offer a generous benefits package.
These are just a few of the benefits you could enjoy:
1. Flexible working hours (based on a standard 37 hour working week) along with opportunities for agile working.
2. Extremely generous Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution, death in service payments, life assurance and dependents pensions.
