Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Inpatient Psychiatry, Whalley (10PA)

We are excited to advertise these posts based at the Whalley Inpatient Unit, which opened at the end of 2023. The Trust is seeking two substantive, full-time Consultant Psychiatrists to join the General Adult Psychiatry team in Pennine Lancashire. The wards at Whalley will provide inpatient treatment for patients with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The post holders will not have outpatient responsibilities.
You will be expected to participate in the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be paid.
The Whalley site comprises two acute 12-bed wards and an 8-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, located in the village of Whalley, in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. Two Consultants will work across the unit, each responsible for a 12-bed acute ward and half of the PICU patients.
The Consultant will provide Medical Leadership to the inpatient MDT and collaborate with a Specialty Doctor and Junior Doctors. The multidisciplinary team includes Mental Health Nurses, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers from the relevant Local Authority.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be eligible for entry within 6 months of the interview date.
It is required that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the start of employment and have or be eligible for Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be according to the New Consultant Contract, based on experience.
