Overview of the Role
As a Project Director, you will be part of the senior leadership team, accountable for overall technical, financial and commercial performance of projects. You may report to a Project Board and oversee a Project Manager and Design Manager. Your duties include:
* Leading project teams from inception to handover.
* Liaising with clients, sponsors and stakeholders.
* Approving reports, tender documents and overseeing cost/schedule.
* Ensuring Health & Safety and Quality Assurance compliance.
Candidate Specification
Professionals should have full awareness of Health & Safety legislation and experience working within the highways sector. You will deliver in a demanding design and build environment, managing client needs and resolving complex issues.
Essential Skills
* Significant experience on highway design and build or contractor‑led projects.
* Attained chartership with a recognised engineering or project management institution.
* Experience establishing and leading project teams, including NEC contract management.
* Proficient in tender budgeting, cost monitoring, overruns resolution and revenue optimisation.
* Principal contact with client senior leadership on commercial and contractual matters.
* Understanding of Designer obligations under CDM Regulations.
* Willingness to travel to client sites or remote offices as required.
Desirable
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Project Management Qualification or pursuing one.
* Knowledge of risk management in project delivery.
* Experience managing projects throughout their lifecycle.
