Job Description
ISS Facilities are seeking a passionate and proactive Sustainability Manager to drive environmental and social performance across a major government contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional — or an ambitious Sustainability Advisor ready for the next step — to join a collaborative and supportive team making a meaningful impact.
Why This Role?
* Join a cohort of sustainability professionals across ISS’s government sector, providing a strong support network.
* Genuine career progression opportunities within a large, purpose‑led global organisation.
* A role with high autonomy and visibility, shaping sustainability outcomes across 22 UK client sites.
* Varied work involving cross‑functional teams, client stakeholders and operational leads.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Sustainability Manager, you will ensure all environmental and social sustainability commitments on the Home Office contract are delivered effectively. You will:
* Lead and manage sustainability activities in line with client expectations, legal requirements and industry standards.
* Monitor, analyse and report on carbon emissions, waste performance, social value metrics, KPIs and wider sustainability outputs.
* Identify risks, opportunities and continuous‑improvement initiatives using performance data and insights.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to embed sustainability into daily operations.
* Coordinate and deliver sustainability projects, including biodiversity initiatives, volunteering, waste reduction schemes and energy efficiency programmes.
* Support and train operational teams to improve their sustainability knowledge and capability.
* Ensure compliance with evolving environmental and social legislation.
* Share best practice across teams to build consistency and reduce duplicated effort.
The role involves regular travel to client sites, particularly in the early stages while relationships are being established.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience supporting sustainability within Facilities Management, Government or Public Sector environments.
* Understanding of environmental management systems, carbon reporting, waste data and associated sustainability elements.
* Good knowledge of sustainability legislation, reporting frameworks and industry practice.
* Experience with Social Value, including TOMs and the Social Value Model.
* Strong stakeholder engagement experience.
* Strong data analysis and routine reporting capability.
Other requirements:
* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to obtain SC Clearance
