We are seeking a talented Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical systems, particularly focusing on powertrain and chassis components, to join our dynamic engineering team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and high-performance solutions across the complete vehicle development cycle, from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and develop mechanical systems focusing on powertrain integration (engine mounts, cooling systems, exhaust, etc.) and chassis components (suspension systems, steering, braking, subframes).
2. Generate and manage CAD models, detailed drawings, and assemblies.
3. Collaborate with simulation, analysis, and test teams to ensure robust, lightweight, and high-performance solutions.
4. Support DFMEA creation and implement DVP (Design Verification Plan).
5. Coordinate with other engineering functions to ensure system compatibility and integration.
6. Interface with suppliers to develop and validate parts meeting technical and timing requirements.
7. Participate in design reviews and present concepts to senior stakeholders.
8. Ensure all designs meet legislative, safety, and company performance targets.
9. Support prototype build phases and production release.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in powertrain and/or chassis system design within the automotive or motorsport industry.
* Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred, others considered).
* Knowledge of vehicle packaging constraints and system integration challenges.
* Good understanding of component testing, validation, and durability requirements.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Desirable
* Experience in low-volume or high-performance vehicle development.
* Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
* Understanding of hybrid or electric powertrain systems.
* Knowledge of chassis tuning and vehicle dynamics principles.
