MANUFACTURING / VALUE STREAM MANAGER

Based in Cumbernauld ZedTalent's client is part a multi-national group, who design, manufacture, build and test of gas analysers and gas emission monitoring systems. Their equipment is found in a range of industrial settings and applications, including petrochem, FMCG and hazardous engineering environments. As part of their ongoing ramp up they now need to make the key hire of a Operations manager.
Reporting into the Site Director, the value stream manager is responsible for the technical management, supervision and control of the production processes for Process Gas Analyser products. This includes supervision of technicians, collaboration with manufacturing engineering, ensuring goals are planned and executed, as well as achieving operational excellence metric goals for production.
This role requires an individual who is a strong people manager first and foremost.
Key responsibilities are likely to include:
* Leads the production activities for the product line. Collaborates with planning, supply chain, quality, manufacturing engineering, logistics, stores and facilities to ensure delivery targets are reached
* Properly staff department, provide resources and assign responsibilities of all employees;
* Drives safety culture in the organisation through leading hazard reporting, safety observations, and completion of safety action items
* Create & update KPI reporting (e.g. On Time Delivery, productivity, unit output, throughput times);
* Provide capacity calculations to planning team and management based on forecasts and advice on headcount. Make recommendations to site leadership on appropriate headcount requirements based on forecasted demand and acceptable productivity level.
* Ensure appropriate staffing on the shop floor to meet production plans and needs
* Serve as support structure for production supervisors and production staff and ensure company objectives are cascaded down properly at all levels in department;
* Collaborates in the development of a pro-active organisational culture, which focuses on problem solving, prioritising activities with an emphasis on safety, quality and customer needs;
* Facilitates the identification and implementation of measures to improve and streamline activities to achieve performance objectives, including Kaizen events, just do its, and capital investments
* Complete a forward-looking continuous improvement plan for the organisation, focused on key metrics of productivity, safety, quality, and cost
Ideally, you are educated to Bachelor’s degree or have relevant career experience in business, engineering or other relevant discipline. Relevant knowledge in manufacturing environments, production management. Knowledge of lean and continuous improvement.
