NHS HIGHLAND
Medical Education department
ScotGEM Patient Journey / Urgent Care (PJUC) Lead
1 session / 4 hours per week
Fixed term – Three Years
Patient Journey/Urgent Care (PJUC) is a 6‑week block that happens at the end of ScotGEM Year 2. As with the rest on the year, PJUC is delivered using a dispersed model such that the students undertake the block in either St Andrews, Dumfries or Inverness.
It is a full‑time block that includes clinical reasoning scenarios, Clinical Interactions Course (CLIC) sessions and acute care skills taught by Generalist Clinical Mentors (GCMs) and relevant local specialists. Clinical attachments in the Emergency Department and Out of Hours are intended to be supplemented by local pre‑hospital care experiences. The block is seen by students and staff as an exciting culmination to two years of Case‑Based Learning, excellent exam preparation and ideal preparation for the students’ Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) in a remote context during Year 3.
This session will provide clear and stable leadership for this block. This role would be an ideal opportunity for clinical educators who are seeking curriculum leadership experience.
The successful applicant will be required to confirm that the necessary overall and required flexible use of sessions has been agreed with their line manager and included in the job plan.
