Position: Welder / Fabricator
Location: Crewkerne, Somerset
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 17:00
Hourly Rate: £15.60 – £18.00 per hour (DOE)
Duration: Temp – perm or permanent
Start Date: Immediate
Job Description: We are seeking skilled and experienced Welders & Fabricators to join the team. In this role, you will assist with the design, build, and implementation of new production lines, as well as perform upgrades to existing site process lines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan site layouts and pipe runs.
2. Perform welding using manual equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
3. Repair machinery and components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
4. Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify and rectify flaws.
5. Maintain equipment to ensure safety standards.
6. Fabricate metal structures, components, and pipelines to precise specifications.
7. Work with sheet metal, including cutting, bending, and forming processes.
Experience & Skills:
8. Proven welding and fabrication experience, including stainless steel and mild steel.
9. Proficiency in a variety of welding techniques (TIG, MMA, MIG).
10. Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
11. Experience with power tools and hand tools for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal pieces.
12. Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairs.
13. Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
14. A flexible, positive attitude, with a strong work ethic.
15. Ability to undertake manual handling duties and maintain a clean, compliant workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
16. Successful completion of a welding apprenticeship.
17. Professional certification (e.g., AWS welding certificate).
18. Experience with safety equipment like PASMA, IPAF, Fork Lift Truck, and First Aid.
