PLC Engineer - Dordon, Tamworth

Accountabilities:
1. Activate pre-defined workarounds or make temporary modifications to PLC code to allow operation to continue with minimal impact during hardware failures.
2. Diagnose and deploy code fixes for identified or suspected PLC code issues.
3. Investigate live production PLC systems via online monitoring to identify and diagnose faults or failures.
4. Use diagnostic tools for non-code issues, such as Profibus / Can Bus networks and Bar Code Readers.
5. Download configurations to non-PLC intelligent devices like Bar Code Readers, shuttle cars, local accumulation modules.
6. Implement and monitor bug fixes, tuning, or code upgrades.
7. Support the go-live and ramp-up of new production PLC systems or projects.
8. Carry out planned maintenance accurately, timely, and safely.
9. Maintain records of work activities, parts used, and training.
10. Collaborate with other departments to improve machine reliability on existing and new equipment.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
1. Experience as an Engineer within Automated MHE systems.
2. Strong technical skills and hands-on experience with automation hardware and software, particularly electrical systems.
3. Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
4. Understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices.
5. Knowledge of AC/DC motor controls.
6. Familiarity with Industrial Bus Networks e.g., Profi bus, ASi.
7. Experience with online code monitoring, modification, and development using Siemens S7 300/400 PLCs and TIA Portal.
8. Experience with SCADA and Siemens HMI systems.
9. Experience in warehouse, distribution, production, or FMCG environment.
10. Understanding of Control System Communication Protocols such as WCS and WMS systems.
11. Proficient in computer use.
12. Good communication, organization, and planning skills.
13. Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems with customer focus and determination under time-critical situations.
14. Experience understanding the criticality of MHE in automated environments and prioritizing responses accordingly.
