Contractor required for appointment as Policy & Finance Committee Chair
The Farriers Registration Council (FRC) is the National Regulator and National Competent Authority for farriery in Great Britain. Its authority and functions are set out in primary legislation under the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 as amended.
The Council seeks an experienced and committed individual to serve as a Chair of the Policy & Finance Committee. Reporting to the Chair of Council, this pivotal role will be required to contribute knowledge, expertise and oversight in respect of policy making, finance and HR, including adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
As an ex-officio member of the Council, the role is to ensure that the FRC is managed efficiently and effectively and play a key role in the organisation’s governance. Working alongside other Council members and the secretariat to shape and monitor financial strategy, policies, risk and to ensure resources are used effectively and ethically for the achievement of our objectives.
As Chair of the Policy & Finance Committee you will:
* provide leadership and guidance to Policy & Finance committee members
* oversee financial planning, budgeting and reporting
* ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and best practice
* provide strategic advice to Council on policy, financial and HR matters
* support the secretariat in maintaining robust financial controls.
We are particularly interested in attracting people with a deep understanding of finance, regulation, corporate governance and people skills. You should have a track record of:
* senior-level experience in finance, accountancy and business management
* understanding governance and financial compliance
* communicating complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
* being collaborative, ethical and committed.
Commitment is for a minimum of 4 meetings per year, as well as ad hoc interaction with the Secretariat on a more frequent basis.
