The Job
Welcome Health is a medical group providing best in class primary care to older adults in clinic, virtually, and in home. You Will
We seek an experienced Medical Assistant to temporarily support the fulfillment of Welcome Health’s mission to transform care delivery for all older people. This position may require flexibility in working in clinic or remotely in the field.
Work Area Preparation / Maintenance
* Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
* Maintains examination areas, preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
* Maintains a clean and sanitary clinic environment through daily cleaning.
Clinical Duties
* For clinic visits, support the clinician in preparing the patient for the visit, which may include rooming, checking vitals, transcribing medical history, etc.
* Contact patients to collect clinical and psycho-social information.
* Coach or train patients on how to utilize technology (e.g., tablets) to communicate with the care team and for virtual visits.
* Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assist with performing assessments and treatments.
* Responsible for pre-visit preparation (chart prep, labs, x-ray, etc.) ensuring all required items have been completed.
* Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
* Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including taking histories, vital signs, gathering health maintenance information, specimen collection, updating health maintenance, accurately identifying medication changes, updating allergies, and documenting all patient care given.
* Report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic physician; monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
* Administer specific medications under direction of physician.
* Follow WHMG policies and procedures related to care (treatment, medication administration, documentation, storage and handling vaccines, sterilization, etc.).
* Perform duties within the MA scope of practice, as defined by the applicable state laws/regulations.
* As directed by provider, submit referrals, authorizations and medication refill orders, and follow up with patient accordingly.
* Conduct routine quality control checks, including infection control measures, equipment QA, and checks for expired medication and supplies.
* Perform waived laboratory testing.
* Schedule diagnostic testing.
* Apply or assist with the application of durable medical equipment.
* Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
* Assist physician with office procedures: preparing instruments needed for suturing, providing equipment and solutions for biopsies, providing supplies needed for splinting.
* Screen telephone calls for referral to physician.
* Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.

Your Qualifications
* Experience delivering clinical care, preferably in an outpatient or in-home setting.
* Prior experience working with older adults (65+) is strongly preferred.
* Active Medical Assistant certification.
* Basic proficiency in MS Office products.
* Experience using Athena is preferred.
* Thrives in a fast paced, ever‑changing environment, and is excited to help build a great organization.
* Comfortable with ambiguity and can work independently.
* Fluency in Spanish is required; a test will be administered to assess proficiency.
* U.S. work authorization.
