What you’ll be doing
* Lead strategic legal projects and provide expert UK and EU competition and regulatory law advice, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders across BT.
* Identify legal risks and opportunities to support BT’s strategic agenda, ensuring compliance and implementing corrective actions where needed.
* Engage with external stakeholders including Ofcom, competition authorities, and customers, and lead on contentious legal matters including litigation and appeals.
* Deliver training and develop best practice guidance on competition and regulatory law, while mentoring junior team members and managing cross-functional project teams.
* Support the Commitments Assurance Office in monitoring BT and Openreach’s adherence to regulatory commitments.
* Champion BT’s values and collaborate across the business to drive positive outcomes.
The skills you'll need
* Qualified Solicitor with relevant PQE experience
* Deep expertise in UK and EU competition and regulatory law, with broad legal knowledge and commercial awareness.
* Significant experience in legal practice, ideally gained in law firms, in-house teams, regulatory bodies, or relevant courts.
* Proven track record in leading competition and regulatory litigation, including proceedings before UK and European authorities.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess complex markets and deliver creative, risk-aware legal solutions.
* Experience presenting legal issues to senior stakeholders, including at Board level.
