We are looking for Lead Planners to work with the team of HGV Tanker Drivers who operate across the region. The planner will ensure that work is carried out efficiently in line with the Thames Contract, tankering various non‑hazardous liquids from sites to disposal facilities. This role involves being the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders and maintaining compliance within the tanker team.

Responsibilities
* Prepare and send the night plan by 12:00 PM and the next day’s plan by 6:00 PM daily.
* Manage and allocate resources to ensure all scheduled and reactive jobs are covered.
* Review and assign jobs from clients promptly, ensuring seamless service delivery and relaying information to teams.
* Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely dispatch and support with any planning or route queries.
* Monitor in‑house Samsara telematics systems to confirm all drivers have departed on time and meet performance KPIs.
* Act as the central point of communication between clients, engineers, supervisors and internal teams to update on scheduling and assist in resolving site issues.
* Lead morning handovers, ensuring day‑shift planners are briefed and all jobs are covered.
* Ensure vehicles are scheduled for routine maintenance and PMI without impacting operational performance.
* Be the primary escalation point for urgent pollution‑related jobs, ensuring rapid tanker coordination and response.
* Conduct a daily commercial review of all completed jobs to ensure accuracy and alignment with service expectations.
* Support and guide planning team members, acting as a senior figure within the planning function.
* Utilise Big Change / ortec system daily for new job requests as well as monitoring the email inbox for enquiries and reporting issues to managers.
* Utilise Excel to report on locations and availability.
Qualifications / Experience
* Experience in a planning or logistics role.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365.
* Strong interpersonal, relationship‑building and networking skills.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise.
