Lead Teaching Assistant – Cover Support

GSL Education is currently seeking a committed and capable individual to join a Portsmouth based secondary school as a Lead Teaching Assistant for Cover. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine classroom delivery with a leadership role, all while contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of school life.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Step into the classroom when needed, delivering pre-set lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
Provide guidance and oversight to a team of Cover TAs, ensuring consistency and quality in lesson delivery.
Work collaboratively with the Cover Manager to coordinate cover provision across the school.
Uphold a positive learning environment, managing behaviour and supporting pupil engagement.
Be a reliable go-to person for both students and staff when cover is required.
Who We're Looking For:
A Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or similar with relevant experience in secondary settings.
Confident leading full class sessions and maintaining a productive learning environment.
Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills.
Ready to take on additional responsibility and step into a leadership position.
Calm under pressure, resilient, and passionate about making a difference.
