Who You Are You are an experienced Special Projects Lawyer with expertise in local government prosecutions and criminal litigation. You have a strong understanding of the local government's legal landscape, including the Licensing Act 2003, and ideally, you have experience as a legal adviser to sub-committees. You possess recent local government experience and have at least 2 years of PQE. What the Job Involves As a Special Projects Lawyer (Prosecutions) in the Legal and Governance division, you will support the Senior Prosecutions Lawyer in providing high-quality prosecution services and legal advice to the Council. Your responsibilities will include preparing for hearings, settling pleadings, and representing the Council in various legal settings to a high professional standard. You will stay updated on relevant legislation changes, liaise with external organizations, and assist in the development of information technology systems used by the team. Additionally, you will provide legal advice to Committees, participate in staff recruitment, and potentially supervise trainees. You will ensure compliance with council statutes and government legislation, promoting good race, ethnic, and community relations.
