HLTA – KS1 Classroom Cover
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026
Location: BL8
Contract: Part‑time (3 days per week – flexible on days)
Longevity: Autumn and Spring Term (September-April 2027)
A welcoming, nurturing, and community‑focused primary school in the BL8 area is working in partnership with Teaching Personnel to appoint a confident, skilled, and dedicated Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide classroom cover across Key Stage 1. This is a part‑time role, working 3 days per week, with flexibility around which days are worked. The position for the Autumn and Spring Term, with the potential to extend further.
About the Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality learning across KS1. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading learning and covering classes in the absence of teachers
- Confidently delivering pre‑planned lessons
- Supporting behaviour management and fostering positive learning environments
- Adapting activities to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities
- Working collaboratively within a supportive KS1 team and following school expectations
The school offers a strong network of support, with an engaged Senior Leadership Team who ensure staff feel confident working with a variety of learning needs, including SEND.
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
- Holds a recognised HLTA qualification (or equivalent)
- Has proven experience covering whole classes
- Is confident and adaptable within a KS1 setting
- Is nurturing, enthusiastic, and passionate about pupil development
- Can differentiate and deliver inclusive learning
- Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
- Is reliable, reflective, and committed to high‑quality practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
