General Summary
Provide mechanical engineering expertise as the package equipment engineer for the Original Equipment (OE) Business, supporting customers, sales, tendering, procurement, operations and field service worldwide.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide technical support related to specialist disciplines through the full product life‑cycle from pre‑award to on‑site.
* Attend project handover from Sales and Tendering Team.
* Review client specifications and order documents.
* Work with the pump design team to create an engineering plan for engineering activities throughout the project.
* Execute planned activities: calculations, design reviews, product specifications, drawing creation (preferably only)/drawing checking and documentation creation/review.
* Work with planners for creation and maintenance of the project plan.
* Create work orders for drawing creation for BOM release.
* Create equipment specifications for RFQ and BOM release of sub‑vendor equipment.
* Oversee creation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and ensure timely updates to support production.
* Support non‑conformance investigations, assess risk and provide timely practical solutions.
* Support procurement on quotes and orders.
* Work with suppliers and clients on documentation for approval of equipment to manufacture.
* Work with designers and create specifications/drawings for internal equipment release to manufacture in‑house.
* Create, review and manage project technical documentation for clients and suppliers.
* Attend meetings and support the project team to meet client expectations and requirements.
* Support manufacturing, assembly and test departments on the progress of equipment throughout the project.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Combination of technical skills and professional attributes required of a Senior Mechanical Engineer (ethical, problem‑solving, customer focused, approachable, assertive, willingness to listen).
* IT skills required for discipline‑specific software.
* Functional or technical skills (CAD, mechanical design, hydraulic design, C&I, N&V, electrical) to support project engineering activities.
* Team‑working ability and an attitude of collaboration, mentoring and flexibility.
* Organised to ensure team management in support of deliverables.
* Desire and ability to develop skills beyond current expertise.
* Ability to influence technical direction.
* Willingness and confidence to communicate (written and presentation) with a professional and knowledgeable approach at all levels.
* Must understand and interpret technical specifications and criteria and assess activities required to meet customer and business expectations relative to order execution and packaging.
* Must have clear knowledge of internal and industry‑related standards and procedures and apply engineering principles to solve technical challenges.
* Place a high value on quality and on‑time delivery (OTD) of team outputs.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 10 years of postgraduate engineering experience.
* Significant experience working with engineers across wide‑ranging disciplines.
* Sound background in an industry‑related environment.
* Extensive exposure to and clear understanding of the full engineering process (front‑end support, design, manufacture, build, test and delivery).
* Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to set and meet personal, team and project deadlines.
* Interest in self‑development and pump & related package technology and engineering.
* Active and valuable team participant who prioritises team success over individual success.
