Details:
We’re seeking experienced Children’s Social Work Team Manager to lead busy area teams. Applicants must have a strong background in team management and be confident overseeing the full journey from referral through to permanence.
Key requirements:
• Proven experience managing:
• Referrals, Assessments, and Child in Need cases
• Strategy discussions, S47 enquiries, and Child Protection processes
• Pre-proceedings, court work, and transitions into permanence/adoption
• Ability to practice in line with the council’s restorative and family-led approach
• Skilled in influencing team culture and supporting performance
• Confident in case decision-making and outcome-focused supervision
• Capable of managing staff welfare, performance, and HR matters
Additional details:
• This is an office-based role, with working hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility to support case progression and safety planning.

* DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
* Social Work England registration
* Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
* Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
* Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
* Possess knowledge of service needs.
* Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
* Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
* Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
