When you join us in this significant role, you'll be responsible for embedding and continuously improving best Knowledge Management practices throughout the directorate. Fostering a positive culture of knowledge sharing and learning among our lawyers, you'll work closely with our senior management team and colleagues in other areas of GLD, including the Professional Development, Digital, and Change teams. Your additional responsibilities will include:

1. Participating in the development of integrated knowledge and learning plans
2. Monitoring, curating, and promoting the latest developments in law and practice
3. Ensuring the team has access to relevant research and training services
4. Collecting and sharing knowledge by collaborating with colleagues and using online platforms
5. Organising and delivering induction training and guidance
6. Facilitating the creation and update of lead lawyer notes, checklists, know-how, standard documents, and precedents
7. Maintaining knowledge collections on relevant platforms with appropriate tagging
8. Liaising with clients about their training needs and delivering induction training
9. Signposting and procuring training on research resources
10. Supporting legal awareness publications and training for clients
11. Identifying colleagues with relevant expertise and promoting this
12. Supporting the priorities of the Centres of Excellence
13. Participating in innovation programmes and liaising with panel firms to learn from their experience

To succeed in this role, you should possess reliable legal judgment, a good understanding of legal risk, and the ability to think strategically and creatively. You should be capable of conducting sound analysis, using secure legal research to produce timely and relevant legal knowledge resources, and have strong communication skills. A good understanding of the role of lawyers in government is also essential.

You should have well-developed experience in knowledge development and appreciate the value your work brings to legal service delivery at GLD. You should be highly motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently and collaboratively. Experience working on Inquiries, Inquests, or in Private Law is desirable, as is previous experience as a Knowledge Development Lawyer. You must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive in England and Wales, with relevant training or exemptions. A minimum of a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent, or evidence of high-level academic or professional achievement, is required.
