Join to apply for the Associate Hydrogeologist role at SLR Consulting.
This position is for an experienced Hydrogeologist to join our busy Hydrology and Hydrogeology team. You will deliver work for clients across minerals, waste management, property and infrastructure sectors, with projects including groundwater abstraction licences, hydrogeological risk assessments, environmental impact assessments, water monitoring and hydrogeological site investigations. You will work with colleagues from ecology, land quality, planning and minerals teams to support multi-disciplinary projects and you will have the opportunity to progress to manage projects, develop client relationships, and mentor more junior staff.
The role
Responsibilities
* Technical delivery of a wide range of hydrogeological projects, including abstraction licensing support with site investigations (pumping tests) and completing Hydrogeological Impact Appraisals and other water-resources assessments.
* Conduct Hydrogeological Risk Assessments / Groundwater Risk Assessments for landfill and deposit for recovery permits, including routine reviews and Schedule 5 responses.
* Lead Environmental Impact Assessments and deliver Water Environment chapters and supporting appendices for Environmental Statements.
* Carry out hydrogeological site investigations (walkover surveys, monitoring borehole installation, hydraulic testing) and manage groundwater/surface water level and quality monitoring programmes.
* Prepare Groundwater Risk Assessments for groundwater discharges / groundwater activity permits.

* Involve yourself in all aspects of successful project delivery including proposals writing, risk identification, project setup, tracking progress against budgets, and delivering high-quality outputs to strengthen client relationships.
* Manage and direct projects and tasks within your specialist area and communicate with internal and external clients.
* Provide workload to others in the team and other disciplines; mentor and coach colleagues.
* Support the development of junior team members through on-the-job training and guidance.
* Contribute to strategic direction and planning to enhance team capacity and opportunities.
* Stay updated with technical innovation, regulatory changes and best practices in water management related to mining, minerals and waste sectors to ensure high-value advice.
Location & Working Arrangements
We prefer candidates in the Stoke-on-Trent or Shrewsbury offices but will consider applicants for other UK offices. The role is full-time with flexible and hybrid options; part-time arrangements may be considered.

What You Will Need
If you are interested, we would love to hear from you. The ideal candidate would demonstrate:
* Relevant academic qualification(s) and progression toward or current Chartered status through a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas organisation).
* Experience delivering a range of technical hydrogeological studies.
* Specialist hydrogeological skills from employment and training, including software for analysis and modelling, best practices for collecting groundwater samples, and knowledge of standard hydrogeological assessments.
* Awareness of UK water-related legislation and regulation.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in reports and meetings (online and in-person) to varied audiences.
* Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
* Hold a full, current UK driving licence.
