Accounting Assistant - Middlesbrough
Salary: Up to £30,000
Contract: Fixed-term until October 2026
Working Pattern: Hybrid working available following initial training period

Hays are working with a Middlesbrough-based organisation looking for an organised and motivated Accounting Assistant to join their finance team on a fixed-term contract until October 2026.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills, great attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting financial operations across a busy organisation. After a period of on-site training, hybrid working will be available.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Team, including:
Providing management accounting support
Producing month-end budget reports and preparing detailed variance analyses in a timely manner.
Supporting the Finance Manager in preparation for budget meetings and attending these meetings to ensure actions are followed up.
Preparing costing information
Producing ad-hoc financial reports
Monitoring and providing financial support for specific projects.
Producing year-end information, including prepayments and accruals.The client is looking for someone who:
Has experience in a finance or accounting role
Is confident working with financial data and producing clear, accurate reports.
Communicates well with colleagues at all levels.
Can manage deadlines and prioritise effectively.
Enjoys problem-solving and improving processes.What Is On Offer
