As Engineering Stores Assistant the inventory, storage, and distribution of engineering parts, tools, and consumables, ensuring high stock accuracy and availability for maintenance teams. They handle receiving goods, updating computerized inventory systems (CMMS/ERP), performing stock checks, and maintaining a safe, organized store environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Inventory Control:Receiving, inspecting, and storing engineering spare parts and materials, checking for damage and accuracy.
* Stock Management:Issuing parts to engineers and maintenance staff, updating inventory systems (e.g., SAP, EFACs) to maintain accurate records.
* Procurement Support:Liaising with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and flagging shortages or stock discrepancies.
* Storage Maintenance:Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized store area, by inspecting stores daily, cleaning and tidying where necessary.
* Logistic Support:Loading/unloading deliveries, using forklifts if required, and organizing stock areas for efficient access. Visting suppliers to collect or deliver materials in company vehicle.
* Safety Compliance:Ensuring all stored materials meet Health & Safety regulations, including managing COSHH items and specialized equipment.
* Experience:Proven experience in a technical/engineering stores environment.
* Technical Knowledge:Familiarity with engineering components, mechanical/electrical parts, and tools.
* IT Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
* Certification:Forklift license/forklift experience is frequently required.
* Attributes:Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously.
