Post Title: BANK STAFF
Responsible to: Early Years Manager
Location: Canterbury Centre & Peppermint Children’s Centre
Salary: £13.68 per hour
Hours: shifts available as required
Main Purpose of the Job
To be a part of a team providing a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment for children 2, 3 and 4 years attending the childcare setting, and undertake work with carers to promote the wellbeing of the child.

Main duties and responsibilities
1. To ensure compliance and implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and The Welfare Requirements within this.
2. To ensure the wellbeing of all children, in line with Every Child Matters, particularly those with additional needs and those vulnerable or at risk.
3. To ensure compliance with the framework for protecting children from harm and adherence with the relevant legislation, and to report any concerns in accordance with the nursery procedures.
4. To support nursery staff by providing stimulating play activities for the children, assisting in the care of toys, equipment during play and supporting children at mealtimes.
5. To help maintain the safety, security and physical and emotional welfare of the children in the nursery.
6. To work within a team structure and participate as a team member.
7. To assist with curriculum planning and implementation, and to participate in observation and record keeping of children.
8. To support the key workers and work as a keyworker to individual children where an extended /fixed term Bank Staff contract is offered
9. Responsible to Early Years Manager (and the Deputy Manager in the absence of the Early Years Manager.
10. To hold a current appropriate first aid certificate.
11. To respect confidentiality within the nursery.
12. To attend and participate in room/team/staff meetings and attend one to one meeting with the Early Years Manager.
13. NVQ Level 2 or 3 childcare or a willingness to train towards a qualification as well as experience of working / volunteering within a childcare setting.
14. To ensure that each child’s full potential is developed in all areas and that his/her needs are met.
15. To observe, assess and accurately record and report where necessary any concerns/progress of individual children to the appropriate group leader/ deputy/manager
16. To liaise with parents building a good staff/ parent partnership regarding their children’s welfare.
17. To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness regarding Health and Safety.
18. A knowledge of good childcare practice and the ability to make positive relationships with young children and their families.
19. To update knowledge and practice where necessary and to attend training where requested.
20. To read and implement the duties and legislations outlined in the A2O policies and procedures
21. To undertake any other duties as and when necessary or required within the post.
