Key Responsibilities

* Act as the College’s named person to receive and respond to copies of Education and Health Care Plans from local authorities in a timely manner, in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
* Assist the Head of Learning Support and deputy in ensuring consistent adherence to ALS service standards for EHCPs and High Needs Funding
* Support implementation and revision of the Learning Support delivery plan related to EHCPs
* Maintain records of EHCP receipt, response dates and review meetings in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
* Coordinate collection, collation, completion and distribution of all EHCP-related documents and data
* Review EHCPs annually with local authorities, arranging meetings with parents, tutors and authority representatives as necessary
* Complete all required paperwork following review meetings and submit to the relevant Local Authority
* Collaborate with professionals to ensure their expertise informs EHCPs and annual reviews
* Maintain sensitive and effective liaison with pupils, families and external agencies/providers
* Coordinate with Learning Support staff, Heads and Progress Leaders to discuss EHCP pupils and refer to external agencies when required
* Participate in and contribute to EHCP-related meetings with external agencies under direction of the Head of Learning Support
* Ensure EHCP clearly details the pupil’s needs with specific actions and outcomes relevant to the setting
* Share advice about EHCP pupils with Learning Support managers and practitioners regarding suitable strategies and methods
* Uphold high standards of confidentiality
* Assist in coordinating assessments of support needs for EHCP pupils
* Identify pupils who may require additional support and eventual eligibility for High Needs Funding
* Help collect and collate information for High Needs Funding claims for EHCP pupils
* Raise standards of EHCP-inclusive attainment by monitoring and supporting student progress
* Work with the Deputy Head of Learning Support and Learning Support managers to plan and deliver enhanced transitions for EHCP pupils
* Share responsibility with Learning Support managers in attending meetings and communicating outcomes for EHCP students and monitoring progress in the year
* Coordinate initial assessments and interviews with Learning Support managers
* Maintain accurate records of pupils with EHCP
* Use ICT packages to support efficient and effective practice
* Ensure accuracy and quality of student records
* Engage positively with parents and carers, forming strong communication links regarding all SEND issues
* Actives an effective team member, assist in running team meetings and participate in continuing professional development
* Take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to maintain a safe working environment and practices
* Support cross-college activities as required, e.g., key enrolment and invigilation periods
* Comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable learners and adults within the post-holder’s remit
* Demonstrate commitment to the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy and continuous quality improvement
* Undertake all other duties commensurate with the post’s level as reasonably required at the initial place of work or other college locations


Essential Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* Minimum Grade C (4 or above) in English and Maths, or equivalent
* Relevant specialist qualification or experience in the SEN field
* Knowledge of SEND reforms, Code of Practice and the EHCP process
* Experience working effectively with learners who have learning difficulties or disabilities in an educational support capacity
* Experience of conducting student‑centred annual and emergency reviews
* Commitment to inclusive learning and knowledge of its application
* Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with a range of agencies
* Ability to implement, maintain and manage accurate information retention systems, manual and electronic
* Experience maintaining records related to additional learning support funding claims and student progress monitoring
* Good organisational and IT skills
* Good presentation and written communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure, organise, prioritise work and meet deadlines
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative


Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* Experience of consultations and reviews in relation to EHCPs
* Knowledge and working experience of ProSolution and ProMonitor (College MIS and ILP systems)
