Job Overview
A locum consultant in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology is required to support general Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services, both elective and emergency, but of particular benefit to the department would be an interest and expertise in menopause management. Candidates wishing to work less than full time, or flexible working can be considered and would require discussion with the Clinical Director.
We are a friendly and supportive team. New consultants will undergo a full induction programme and be offered on-going support and mentorship for as long as needed. It is routine for us to call a colleague if required during life-threatening emergencies. We encourage knowledge sharing and mutual support.
Main duties of the job
The post includes taking part in the Consultant non-resident, third on call, out of hours rota, which currently involves one in six weekday nights and one in ten weekends. This is subject to ongoing review. Out of hours work is currently paid at Intensity Band Three but this is subject to ongoing review.
The post holder is expected to show a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as supporting the clinical governance activity within the department.
Participation is expected in the regular department programme of postgraduate activity

Essential criteria
Full GMC registration
MRCOG or equivalent appropriate specialist qualification
Desirable criteria
Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register
Additional relevant degree(s)
ATSM's relevant to post
ATSM Labour Ward Lead
Additional higher medical / scientific degree relevant to specialty
Menopause qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
Experience of working in busy tertiary units at Registrar level or higher
Clinical training and experience in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
Appropriate experience & training relevant to special interest
Proven engagement in management activities
Experience of supervising junior staff
Ability and experience of teaching clinical skills
Desirable criteria
Appropriate experience in training grade posts leading to accreditation for UK CCST or recognised equivalent
Qualification / evidence of management and administration experience
Attendance at relevant management course for Consultants
Additional clinical experience/training that may be required
