We are seeking to appoint a Cardiologist with a sub-speciality interest in coronary intervention who will contribute to the General Cardiology On-call Rota at St Richard's and the primary PCI rota at The Royal Sussex County Hospital. Sessions in coronary intervention would be undertaken on the Worthing and Royal Sussex County Hospital sites.
Main responsibilities
Outpatients: 2 clinics per week. Catheter lab sessions. Inpatient duties: 1 in 6 consultant of the week. Ward and outpatient work based at St Richards Hospital; may work within the entire UHSussex network. On-call: cardiology 1:6 nights, 1 in 6 consultant of the week rota. No GIM on-call commitment. Category A. 5% supplement. Primary PCI rota at The Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Job responsibilities
The appointee will join a team of 5 other Consultant Cardiologists at St Richards Hospital in Chichester to deliver outpatient and inpatient cardiology services. Responsibilities include daily in-reach to the Emergency Floor, triage of generic cardiology referrals, admin for investigations and GP communications, and reporting of investigations to GPs. Responsibilities also include non-invasive cardiology investigations, teaching and supervision of medical students and junior staff, and involvement in audit and quality improvement projects.
Intervention work will be based at Worthing and Royal Sussex County Hospitals. Primary PCI rota at The Royal Sussex County Hospital. Opportunities for clinical research and to participate in the Trust’s Quality Improvement Programme (Patient First). On-call arrangements include 1:6 nights and 1 in 6 consultant of the week; Primary PCI on-call at The Royal Sussex County Hospital to be confirmed. Category A. 5% supplement.
The post holder may perform duties in occasional emergencies as needed, with guidance and in line with professional governance.
Person specification
Experience / Qualifications
 * Basic Medical Degree
 * FRCP or recognised equivalent
 * Full and specialist GMC registration or eligibility within six months of interview; UK-trained candidates should have CCT in Cardiology or be within six months of CCT attainment by interview date; non-UK trained candidates must provide evidence of equivalence to UK CCT (equivalence confirmed by GMC by AAC date)

 * Independent PCI operator; confident PPCI operator; experience as solo operator with complex intervention

Teaching Skills
 * Interest and commitment to teaching; recognised teaching qualification desirable
