An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join our growing pharmacy team. We are looking for collaborative, motivated, and forward-thinking technicians. The role involves supporting medicines management within the general practice setting, with support from our Clinical MDT, including Senior Clinical Pharmacists and GPs. The role also focuses on improving the repeat prescribing process and relieving clinical workload pressures.
The PCN recognises the important role of pharmacy technicians, complementing our clinical pharmacist team and working alongside community pharmacies, GPs, and other multidisciplinary team members. The core responsibilities of pharmacy technicians cover clinical, technical, and administrative categories. The key responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking patient-facing roles to ensure effective medicines use through shared decision-making conversations.
2. Conducting Long Term Conditions reviews and ensuring compliance with guidelines.
3. Providing telephone advice to patients with LTCs on medicines management issues.
4. Providing health promotion, including flu vaccinations.
5. Carrying out medicines optimisation tasks, such as checking inhaler techniques, supporting medication reviews, medicines reconciliation, and working in partnership with patients.
6. Supporting medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for care home patients and synchronising medicines during patient transfers, liaising with community pharmacists and referring to pharmacists for structured reviews.
7. Providing specialist expertise to address public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice and tackling health inequalities.
This role offers an opportunity to join a large, forward-thinking organisation committed to person-centred care, teaching, training, and mentorship. Our vision is to be the most respected Primary Care provider in the West Midlands, with systems organized to focus on healthcare. Our values include honesty, excellence, accountability, respect, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
